The introduction of the Information Technology Department in local government has set the stage for greater transparency and the possibility of greater citizen participation. ICTs such as the Internet, Online Portals, computers, Video conferences, and online tools for effective information and communication service delivery should be made available in the local government area. Almost all government agencies have an information technology or IT department that handles all technical issues that arise. Memari Municipality also has an IT department. Generally, this department performs all tasks related to computers, online portals, and networks from time to time. In a holistic sense, the IT department is responsible for providing the infrastructure for E-Governance. It implements governance for network and operating system usage, and it supports operational units by providing them with the functionality they need. It is important to note that although the IT department enforces and facilitates the flow of information, it does not create policies that determine what information is accurate or accessible to others.
To meet all ICT requirements of the Municipality and to make the services fully functional through effective use of service providers, Memari municipality has taken such praising steps from the beginning.
