Vision: State Government has launched a Scheme namely ‘MAA’ for providing cooked quality meals to the poor and needy citizens of the State to be served by Urban Local Bodies in common kitchen/s with the contribution of Rs.5/- by the beneficiaries since 15th February 2021. Subsidy of the State Government is Rs.10/- per meal.
Mission: Welfare schemes are started with the intention to provide benefits to vulnerable sections of society. The success of this welfare scheme depends on the seriousness of the people at the helm of affairs, the efficiency of the scheme’s functionaries, and the involvement of the people. The Maa Canteen, a delivery system to provide food security in urban areas of the State, has become an effective mechanism for reaching the poor and needy citizens.
Objective: To provide subsidized quality cooked meals to poor citizens of West Bengal for the development of their nutrition.

Progress Trends & Innovative Approach:

• Canteen running functional
• 100 numbers Beneficiaries covered per day
• Meals are distributed through the coupon. Coupon distribution time is 10 am to 12 pm 
• Distributing coupons in a slum area, market complex, and bus stand also.
• Sometimes the supply of lunch packets to Slum Areas, Market, Hospital, Bus stands, and Railway Station area
• Active Involvement of women SHGs is a great way to bring more women into the workforce.
• Program is a boon to migrant workers, indigent people, etc. feeling the pinch of lockdown with pay cuts and loss of jobs
