E-Governance is the public sector’s use of information and communication technologies with the aim of improving information and service delivery, encouraging citizen participation in the decision-making process, and making government more accountable, transparent and effective.
Due to the rapid rise of the internet and digitization, Governments all over the world are initiating steps to involve IT in all governmental processes. This is the concept of e-government. This is to ensure that the Govt. administration becomes a swifter and more transparent process. It also helps save huge costs.
E-Governance can be defined as the application of communication and information technology for providing government services, exchange of information, transactions, integration of previously existing services, and information portals.
It makes the whole administrative process convenient, efficient, transparent, fully accountable, and responsible. As a fast-growing economy and an emerging world leader, E-Governance is a must in a country like India, both in Government and corporate sector.
The goal of government-to-citizen (G2C) e-governance is to offer a variety of ICT services to citizens in an efficient and economical manner and to strengthen the relationship between government and citizens using technology.

What is G.I.S?
A geographic information system (GIS) is a type of database containing geographic data (that is, descriptions of phenomena for which location is relevant), combined with software tools for managing, analyzing, and visualizing those data. In a broader sense, one may consider such a system to also include human users and support staff, procedures and workflows, the body of knowledge of relevant concepts and methods, and institutional organizations. An Urban Landscape is in constant need of Decision making and the availability of updated data helps at the management level to facilitate administrative procedures, implementation of policies as well as a development strategy.
Memari Municipality & G.I.S :
The GIS for Memari Municipality has taken the decisions and started work on G.I.S regarding Land use and spatial issues, development, and environmental and economic issues. It will form a spatially reference information system, which can be used as a decision-making tool. The GIS has been able to collect, store and integrate geographically related information. It will also provide analysis and thematic map products. Implementation of this technology has led to certain benefits.
